Soul Calibur Universe - News Archive - July 2005

July 2005

July 30, 2005

I'm gone for a week starting today, I'll be back on the... err, 5th? or something. Blah whatever, heh. Forum members! Get info so I can update easily when I get back. =p

Cya all.

July 29, 2005

Two short yet AWESOME updates today:
Hope you all like the new AWESOME logo! =)
Soul Blade's soundtrack added. We're on FIYAAH.

July 28, 2005

1UP.com updated again with hilariously bad information such as:

"Still, even in [Soul Edge's] early form, you could see where the Calibur games got their Guard Impact system, a rudimentary side-step mechanic, and other gameplay staples."
The guard impact system in Calibur is vastly different from anything in Soul Blade.

"Another thing about Soul Calibur II is that Raphael is definitely one of the most unbalanced uh...additions to the series and I really hope that they, they, they tweak him for three. Because he is cheap, cheap, cheap cheap as hell."
Learn to sidestep.

"After you unlock the part where you can actually edit the, uh, opening cinema because it was in real time. You know, at first it was just the point "ah it doesn't have as cool a CG intro as Soul Edge did, or Soul Blade.” But then when you realize that, “oh, I can actually swap out Cassandra with for Astaroth”...
Cassandra wasn't even in Soul Calibur I.

"And make [Necrid's] hands turn into every weapon available..."
His hands, huh. Then what was that energy ball for?

ANYWAY, Soul Calibur I Music Section Added! Check it out from the Navigation menu. Also I made it so the forums have a link to get back here. Thus, I made it so it doesn't open a new window now when you click the forums link. =) One window, much more convenient.

July 27, 2005

1UP has put up another video, but jeez, these guys have no idea what they are talking about. They pretty much say Soul Calibur III isn't going to be a proper sequel because of no online play. They do a horrible job at promoting the game. I am not going to host any 1UP videos on this site anymore.

July 26, 2005

Two new videos added! Go check them out in the Videos section.

July 25, 2005

Info taken from 1up's one week megaupdate thing they are doing on their website:
EVERY CHARACTER IS RETURNING TO SCIII, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NECRID, LINK, HEIHACHI, AND SPAWN.
(I wonder if this includes Li Long, Seung Han Myong, etc.)

Roster size is confirmed at 30 characters.

Necrid is out.

According to how Namco sees it, Zasalamel is the easiest to use out of the new characters, then Tira, then Setsuka.

Here's a basic idea of some weapons the classes will be wielding: Barbarian (iron sword), Thief (daggers), Dancer (tambourines), Saint (club), Ninja (kunai), Gladiator (broad sword and small shield), Pirate (Chinese sword), Samurai (katana), Assassin (double crescent blade), Monk (nunchaku).

Tales of Souls will take about 30 minutes to complete for each character, with there being one for all 30 characters (not to mention the alternate endings).

Weapon Master Mode is now called Coin Collector. You fight under abnormal conditions, get gold, and then buy things.

Three other "minigame" type things such as "Dancing Statue," where you fight a giant moving statue that shoots fireballs (o_O). Soul Squash is a game where you hit your opponent against a wall like they were a raquetball. Wisp Shoot is something involving getting fireflies for power and shooting this power at your enemy. (Remember, these are minigames, not full blown modes. Namco IS working on the main game, obviously.)

It was said that there is a possibility of there being breakoff games in the Soul series. Like having an RPG or RTS type game, along with the fighting games we already have.

SOUL ARCHIVE HAS UPDATED! And I am adding stuff.

Mitsurugi, Taki, Voldo, Raphael, and Astaroth's biographies were added! Over an hour of typing... stupid flash format soularchive.... *faints*

Stages section completely updated, including new information and new images.

Some more info: There are now "perfect" guard impacts; basically if you execute a perfect guard impact, your opponent will not be able to GI back at you. They are at your mercy. These involve getting timing down to the frame (or 2 frames).

July 22, 2005

Not to worry! I just upgraded my hosting account. =). My site will live! Mwhahaha. Also, no SoulArchive update?????

July 20, 2005

I guess I was wrong about having every SC3 video. =). I found two more, including one that shows Tira's 2P costume (!!!) -- however, I'm very wary on uploading too much more stuff... the bandwidth being used lately is getting a little intense... but I am putting up the Tira 2P costume video. Check it out!

Also I made some of the thumbnails load faster. However this is a lengthly process and I'll stop here for today. I'll make the rest load faster later.

July 19, 2005

Wow, I guess I spoke too soon.

Total bandwidth used yesterday: 3647919 KB.

July 18, 2005

VIDEOS SECTION ADDED! Direct links to every single SC3 related video existant at the time I wrote this. Don't take away TOO much of my bandwidth. ;)

July 17, 2005

EGM, while not exactly the most trustworthy magazine ever, is featuring SC3 in their next issue. Forumgoers, I expect scans of all the pages >_<. Well, not really, but hopefully a few of you could get the issue and retype all the infomation into a post? Thanks.

ALSO: Unconfirmed Cover Art - Real or fake?
Note that the Zasalamel art looks new (email me (kirbyssb(at)gmail.com) if you recognize it), but every other image on there could have been taken from other sources (minus the background, which could have been made). However, if it's fake, it is extremely well done. I hope this is the official art:

Head to the Soul Calibur 3 IRC chat -- #SoulDiscussion in irc.gamesurge.net. Click the link on the Navigator to open your IRC program -- and chat in real-time with Soul Calibur fans! For help, please check this thread on our forums! Thanks!

Mitsu's 2P outfit, Kilik's 2P outfit, one custom character pic, four group pics, and three other character pics were added to image gallery! Also, I used that countdown clock to say when the next SoulArchive update is! It's probably off by a few hours though.

Made a clock counting down how many more Days/hours/minutes until SC3. Problem is that now we need the official release date! =)

Hiroaki Yotoriyama says, "If the users ask for it, it's definitely a possibility." He was referring to an Arcade release. Barrage Namco with email saying gimmie arcade!

If you have any fanart for the Soul series then send it in via email or posting it on the forums. I'll be more than happy to add a fanart section to the website.

July 10, 2005

The Tales of Souls video was added to the Tales of Souls page, found on the Navigator on the left. Please enjoy the video and post comments on the Forums.

July 8, 2005

Zasalamel is bald!
This, and a lot of information involving Tales of Souls mode, Namco released today with the new Tales of Souls video. Also, I added the Tales of Souls section, over to the left on the Navigation menu.

July 7, 2005

Added Misc. section to image gallery. More coming soon. Also, I have a feeling that on the 8th, Namco is going to give us quite a bit more info on this game ;). Stay tuned, folks!

July 6, 2005

Added a whole bunch of stage art. Scrapped the Stages section of the image gallery; added new pics to the Artwork section. Also scrapped multiple pages for thumbnails. They're thumbnails for a reason, right? Why have multiple pages? New character images + something else coming soon.

July 5, 2005

Character Biographies are HERE! Check the link (Characters) on the Navigation menu!
Also, I made an .ico file for the website that appears up by the address bar + in your bookmarks.
COMING SOON: New stage images, new character images, and perhaps something more.

July 4, 2005

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days, I was busy enjoying July 4th festivals. Anyway, the character biographies section going to arrive VERY soon, it's all done except for a few html tweaks that I need to do. I also fixed some other small things.
